The Wilderness Leadership Summit is an transformational journey designed to take emerging leaders beyond the familiar and into an environment where adventure, challenge, and spiritual transformation come together. Through outdoor experiences, authentic community, and biblically grounded formation, participants deepen their faith, strengthen their character, discover their God-given purpose, and become the kind of leaders worth following.

Crafted for emerging leaders ages 18–30, this co-ed experience creates space to step away from the noise, encounter God in the wilderness, and wrestle with the questions that shape who you are and where you’re going. This isn’t simply a hike with leadership lessons added. It’s a journey that stretches the body, strengthens the soul, and prepares young men and women to return home with deeper roots, greater courage, stronger relationships, and a renewed commitment to live—and lead—with purpose.

Phase 1: Reflect

Authentic leadership begins with inner transformation. Through Scripture, solitude, prayer, and intentional reflection, cultivate the character, convictions, and spiritual disciplines that sustain a life of influence. Before leading others, learn to lead yourself through surrender, humility, and wholehearted devotion to God.

Phase 2: Recalibrate

Discover your God-given gifts, strengthen your abilities, and explore the dynamics of transformational leadership. Through practical challenges, mentoring, teamwork, and authentic relationships, develop the courage, character, and competencies to empower others. Learn to navigate conflict, inspire collaboration, and learn to lead like Jesus.

Phase 3: Re-Commit

Leadership reaches its highest purpose when surrendered to God’s calling. Move beyond discovering your potential to discerning His purpose for your life. Through prayer, biblical reflection, and intentional listening, seek God’s direction and respond with courage and obedience. Recommit your gifts, ambitions, and future to Him.

Good questions before a long walk

A few things to know as you consider ten days on the trail.

Who can join a WLS trek?

WLS treks are designed for young adults who want to grow through outdoor challenge, community, and Christian leadership formation. You don’t need to have everything figured out to come.

Do I need trekking experience?

You should be willing to prepare for sustained days outdoors, but you don’t need to be an expert. Each trek’s itinerary outlines its physical demands so you can decide whether it’s a good fit.

What happens over the ten days?

Expect mountain travel, shared camp or lodging routines, time for reflection, conversations about leadership and faith, and opportunities to serve. The daily rhythm depends on the destination and conditions.

How is faith part of the experience?

The life and teachings of Jesus shape the trek. We make room for prayer, Scripture, honest questions, and conversation about what it means to follow him in everyday life.

What does service look like on a trek?

Service takes different forms by location. Where opportunities are part of the itinerary, we work in response to local partners rather than arriving with our own idea of what a community needs.

What should I expect from the group?

You’ll travel with other young adults, share practical responsibilities, and face some hard days together. Come ready to contribute, listen well, and let others get to know you.
